‘TRAVELLING’ – At first it made me speechless. Today, it has turned me into a story-teller. The most awaited day—the day I left for the USA—finally arrived after a month of preparations. All my bags were packed and ready to go. I was full of excitement and thrill because I was leaving on a jet-plane. I departed to the airport for my flight, and that’s when my Facebook check-ins began, flooding everybody’s news feeds. It was my first ever experience on a plane and I have no words to describe how memorable it was. I was a bit nervous, but excited and felt adventurous at the same time. After a long flight and time spent at transits, I finally touched down in the United States, the land of opportunities.
Edward Hausman The 2015 Deerwalk Picnic was held at the Norling Resort just outside of Kathmandu. It provided an attractive setting for an enjoyable day. Certainly it was impressive to see how much the company has grown since my first picnic with the company back in 2013. A series of short speeches by people named […]
I had a great trip to the United States. As Rudra Dai says,”You must visit United States of America at least once.” It was everything I was told, heard, read and have seen in movies.
Boston is a beautiful city. People in Boston are friendly and polite. They will greet you and hold the door open for you. Bostonians also stop their cars to let you cross the road. There are lots of places you can visit in Boston – Harvard Square, Boston Common, and the Boston Harbor are a few. You can also visit downtown to see skyscrapers in Boston.
My professional interests lie at the intersection of education and women’s empowerment. Teaching at DWIT fulfills the educational side of my passion.

It is said, “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” The first few days of my trip felt like I was in an alien world where there are good roads but small houses, lots of greenery but very few people to enjoy it, and lots of mailboxes but less conversation among the people using them. I missed the hustle and bustle of people, the never-ending crowd of vehicles, the moderate temperature, the dusty footpath, the faces of people, barking dogs, etc. The silence there sometimes haunted me as I realized that I missed my life in my home country. The office was quiet except during the times of stand-up meeting and lunch. Here, my day started with the call that Sanjeev used to have with the Nepal team in the morning and ended with Sagar discussing a delivery date with the Nepal team. In between, I got some time to discuss going to malls for shopping and planning the weekends despite the regular office work.
After some hectic times getting my visa processed, I finally got to breathe a sigh of relief when the application was accepted. My travel anxiety had started a couple of days before the trip. I had heard about the heavy snowfall and extreme cold in Boston, so I got my luggage packed with warm winter clothes.
We have seen that Deerwalk is full of superhero fans. Of course we’re excited about the upcoming release of “The Avengers 2”. My friends and I were discussing the possibility of becoming super humans. It’s funny, but they asked me if it’s possible “genetically” to transform from a normal human to a super human. Technically, anything is possible, but this one is unlikely. It got me thinking and I want to share this overview about genetic mutation.
The Deerwalk team is full of computer engineers and genomic scientists dedicated to solving human problems. Crazy things happen when our genomics and engineering teams meet. This month, we’re here to describe gene therapy and, naturally, we liken the human body to a computer to start our description.
