I have been working in offshore offices of US-based IT companies for the past five years and I had always been eager to learn about the workings, processes and environments at onshore offices. Fortunately, I got an opportunity to visit Deerwalk’s headquarters in Lexington, Massachusetts last month.
The third season of Deertalk 2013, from May 23 to June 14, featured Ashish Vaidya, Deependra Shrestha, Deepak Karna, Jeevan Timilsina, Naresh Maharjan, Nimesh Deuja, Rachana Shrestha, Rajan Twati, Sawan Vaidya and Sunil Ghimire.
On Saturday, June 15, 2013, twenty-six Deerwalkers hopped in the vans and headed to Kakani for a management workshop. Our arrival brought with it a stroke of luck: the rain had lifted and we were able to begin the day’s program outside with some team and trust building exercises. First “The Human Knot” to encourage teamwork and group listening, then “The Gauntlet” to show the importance of trusting one’s colleagues and finally a blind-folded relay race. If nothing else, the games broke the ice.
Deertalk’s second season wrapped up on May 17, 2013. The season’s participants were Awanish Ranjan, Ashish Shrestha, Bhoj Raj Ghimire, Bikram Lal Shrestha, Lava Kafle, Milan Lamichhane, Sachin Karanjit, Samrat Karanjit, Sanket Shrestha, Sweta Karna and Suresh Maharjan.

QM in Cascading
Cascading is an application framework that allows for rapid development of data analytics on Apache Hadoop. It is an abstraction of the popular MapReduce software framework that supports distributed computing on large data sets on clusters of computers. By moving to this new framework, Deerwalk will be able to rapidly deliver new sets of Quality Metrics. It also allows us to more easily create integrated unit tests of our metrics to ensure the highest quality.

Selecting the right primary entities and building proper relationship is the heart of enterprise application design. And, this is common to both NOSQL and SQL world. Besides this, one important factor, in NOSQL world is to design proper structure of primary entities and queries around them. Unlike that in SQL solutions, in most of the NOSQL solutions the structure of the entity resembles the real world object it represents. It makes the solution more flexible. However, the more the complexity of the object they represent the more the complexity of the data structure and its design and the more the use cases for it.
