Improving plan performance requires an understanding of how changes to plan design will impact plan costs and utilization for a population. The Plan Design Module is integrated directly within the Deerwalk Plan Analytics platform, powered by a partnership with Claros Analytics. The model allows users to run “what if” scenarios to evaluate changes to plan cost and utilization based off edits to plan design parameters like deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, and medical and pharmacy copays. One of the most integral components of the model is the ability to account for changes to the member incentive when adjusting the cost of the plan. When analyzing populations for which data is already available in Deerwalk Plan Analytics, the module provides a shortcut to quickly populate the demographic values based on the selected group. Results return a high-level financial impact summary, visual charts showing a side-by-side comparison of the current plan versus the proposed scenario, including utilization changes, and a table that breaks down the underlying financial components.
